Gulaabi Vatika means pink garden, and the name comes from the one spot of colour on the piece. The Gulaabi Vatika Silver-Toned American Diamond Necklace Set is built as a garden in miniature: rows of marquise stones curve across the bib like petals and leaves opening out from each shoulder, all of it clear and cool, until a single pale pink stone hangs at the point where the rows meet. The lattice is the garden. The pink is the flower it was planted for.
The bib sits wide across the neckline. Narrow linked straps at the back flare into a V-shaped panel at the front, packed with clear crystal-look marquise stones, each claw-set inside its own halo of tiny round stones and laid in overlapping curved rows that sweep from both shoulders to a point at the centre. A column of larger stones runs down the V and ends in a marquise stone at its lowest point. From there hangs the pendant: a rectangular step-cut pink-toned stone in a soft frosted finish, held by four silver-toned claws and framed by a clustered double border. The matching danglers repeat the pendant at a smaller scale.
This one is built for evening. Wear it to receptions, engagement parties, a sangeet, or a New Year's or awards night where the dress code asks for something bright. The bib needs an open neckline to sit properly, so pair it with a strapless or wide boat-neck gown, a plain sari blouse, or a lehenga in a solid colour that lets the lattice do the work. The pink pendant picks up blush, ivory and dusty rose particularly well.
