It draws on the bib jewellery of the north Indian courts, where a piece was built outward in strands and panels rather than hung from a single chain. This is a formal set, made for the occasions that ask for one.
The set is a wide multi-strand bib in bright gold-toned metal with matte antique gold-toned accents. Close-set strands of green-toned faceted beads and pearl-look seed beads run across the upper neckline into two crescent side panels, each topped by a lotus fan of a white Polki-style teardrop between green-toned petals, with pink-toned stones curving around a carved motif. Between them hangs a large round open medallion: a domed rosette at the top, blue-toned crescents, green and pink-toned pears, and a white flat-cut centre. A dense fringe of gold-toned ball beads, pearl-look and green-toned clusters runs along the bottom. The matching chandbali earrings repeat the medallion in miniature.
This is a set for the biggest days: weddings, receptions, sangeet and the larger festival nights. It needs a deep neckline to sit properly, so pair it with a silk or Banarasi saree, a lehenga, or an Anarkali cut low enough to give the panels room.
