Lavender Bloom takes its name from the colour and the shape at once. The pale light purple tone runs through every coloured stone in the set, and the flowering clusters that link down each side give the bloom. Nothing in the piece is warm: the metal is a cool silver-toned finish, and every stone that is not lavender-toned is clear white. It is a cooler register than most Indian bridal jewellery, made for someone who wants the sparkle without the warmth.
The set hangs from a fine silver-toned snake chain on each side, plain up to the clasp, widening into a graduated bib. Two columns run down each side: a stepped row of upright lavender-toned oval flat-cut stones, each bezel-set and ringed in tiny clear crystal-look stones, alongside a linked chain of clear flower clusters with pear-shaped petals around a round centre stone. The two sides meet at the midline, where two flower clusters sit side by side above a fringe of haloed lavender-toned drops in a soft scalloped V. The matching earrings stack flower, marquise, flower, then a lavender-toned drop.
The cool palette makes this an easier set to place than a heavy warm-toned bib. Wear it to engagements, receptions, cocktail evenings and Christmas or New Year functions, and to a wedding where you are a guest rather than the bride.
